Welcome to Romero’s Reflections Episode 2! Romero takes a break from the daily news to just talk. He recaps the upcoming performance with Latin music artist, author, and disability advocate Precious Perez — he’ll be backing her in the band Midair Decision on June 24th at 6pm at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. (also streaming live on their YouTube channel). He then reflects on his recent first-ever trip to Atlanta, Georgia, and the surprisingly kind and helpful people he met there. That leads into a candid rant about being patronized by strangers who call him “buddy” or “sweetie” just because he’s blind, and why he’d rather be treated like anyone else. Romero also runs down his travel bucket list — Texas, Nashville, Arizona, and Wyoming stateside, plus the Dominican Republic, touristy Mexico, Turkey, and the Caribbean islands (St. Thomas, St. Martin, Turks and Caicos, Jamaica) abroad — and asks listeners to share their own dream destinations and places they’d never want to go.
